Learn More About Irobot Vacuum While Working From At Home
The iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum Cleaner
Robot vacuums nab pet hair, lint and dust off floors before they can settle. They can also avoid obstacles such as furniture that is unstable and stairs.
Most robotic vacs require some maintenance, like emptying (and occasionally rinsing) the bin and wiping cameras and sensors. Also, they need to be plugged into a power source. A lot of them have apps for smartphones to schedule, adjust settings and more.
iRobot Roomba 980
The iRobot Roomba 980, the most recent of a series of top-of the-line robot vacuums, is a staple for every modern home. This model comes with a HEPA filter that can help those who are allergic. On top of that, it also comes with a powerful battery that can clean up to two hours, and it will return to its dock once its bin is full.
Smart mapping is another feature that assists in identifying areas of your home that require attention and creates a cleaning path to get around them. We've seen this technology in action and it does a great job of moving around toys that are left scattered on the floor or furniture legs that stick out from under the furniture. robot mop has a camera sensor that can snap the Roomba back to its original position when it starts drifting from its intended location.
iRobot has also introduced a new set of rollers beneath the bottom of the Roomba that do not have bristles, and thus tend to be more resistant to tangles than previous models. They're also higher than the older rollers and can better fit under beds and couches with low sides, and they're designed to help this model navigate more easily across a variety of flooring types.
The Roomba 980 is distinguished from other high-end models due to its latest dirt detection feature, which uses a camera in order to detect dirt embedded. This is an improvement over the previous version that relied on a sensor-driven pseudorandom cover method to bounce around the room and scrub the entire area three times at various angles.
The Roomba 980 performed well in our tests on both carpets and hard floors. It scored highly on carpets with a low pile, and on mid-pile. It did a decent job of removing pet hair, but it struggled with extremely thick and long pet fur that was clumped together.
The Roomba 980 is still one of the best performing robots we've reviewed despite the slight limitations. It's also not as expensive as other top-of the-line models. It has a lot of features you would expect from a flagship model, but it doesn't have all the fancy apps or home integration you'd find in other top models.
The iRobot Roomba can be set up quickly and is available for use as soon as you are ready to. After removing the pull tab for the battery and the yellow bin insert from undercarriage, all you need to connect it to its Home Base docking station or a wall socket, hit its large "Clean" button, and let it get to work. It will return to its dock when it has run out of batteries or is full of trash. There are also indicator lights on top that indicate when the bin is empty, or when it needs to recharge, or if it loses Wi-Fi.
